Modernization of the RINGEN research infrastructure

Modernization of the RINGEN research infrastructure

The aim of the project is to build on existing international interdisciplinary research in the use of deep geothermal (GTE) energy by EGS technologies and create conditions for testing new and validating existing methods of EGS systems in metamorphic rocks, which will contribute to successful use of this innovative technology on a global scale. The resulting unique R&D background will solve specific problems such as - measurement and mathematical modeling of heat transport in the upper crust - determination and mathematical modeling of fracture permeability in various types of rocks of the Bohemian Massif and its increase through hydraulic stimulation - monitoring of seismic activity during hydraulic stimulation and its analysis in real time - increasing the detection capacity of various types of seismic monitoring networks - preliminary estimation of seismic response of the massif during grouting - slow movements on the earth's surface near faults due to hydraulic stimulation The result will be increased accuracy pumping and at the same time increasing the safety of the actual implementation and operation of geothermal heating plants and power plants. A partial goal is also to complete and modernize the research infrastructure. This will increase its research potential and involve it in international projects in the field of research into the use of terrestrial heat from great depths. After this modernization, the research infrastructure will represent a unique, state-of-the-art research facility that will attract the interest of domestic, but above all renowned foreign R&D centers from Europe and abroad.
