3D contactless magnetoresistive positioning system

The project is focused on creating a 3D positioning system and its software for monitoring the 3D kinematic behavior of rock blocks on the principle of magnetoresistance, which allows determining the change in position of the sensor to the magnetic field of a neodymium magnet mounted on the opposite side of the fault. The project aims to (i) try to technically solve the elimination of disturbing environmental influences by adding a reference sensor measuring the magnetic and temperature background, (ii) verify the accuracy and other parameters of the meter in the laboratory, and (iii) test the concept in real conditions on sites with available reference infrastructure. The project will make it possible to provide a completely new contactless, compact, and affordable 3D positioning method that is widely applicable in basic geoscience research and practice.
