Institute of the Rock Structure and Mechanics of the CAS is an application-oriented research institute that conducts research in the field of geophysics, geotechnics, geomaterials, composites and geothermal energy, cooperates with a number of domestic and foreign industrial companies and manages a portfolio of a number of domestic and foreign patents and utility models. The main goal of the 4GEO project is to increase the application potential and maturity (TRL) of R&D results, and to support ISSM researchers in their efforts to increase the socio-economic impact of their work. The purpose of the support is to find new solutions in the fields developed in the ISRM and apply them in practice. The previously used system of knowledge management and commercialization, applied in the ISMH, will be supplemented by a new tool to support projects in the proof of concept phase, the so-called Fund for Commercialization, and such an expanded system of commercialization will be practically verified. Another goal is to start the process of creating a new source of financing for the ISMH through revenues from licensing agreements, research cooperation and increasing the share of financing research activities from its own revenues. During the project, a comprehensive and long-term sustainable system of support for research activities will be created, which will motivate researchers to create new results with application potential and take care of their practical use.
