Synthesis, Structure and Characteristics of Nanomaterials Based on Intercalated Phyllosilicates

Based on our previous experience it is well known and documented that the structure of the interlayer of phyllosilicates can be modified through intercalation of inorganic and organic species. The interlayer space (in nanometric scale) betweenrelativelyrigid 2:1 or 1:1 layers can be also denoted as the interlayer reactor, because there is possible to realize for example, polymerization of organic monomers (closely related to preparation of polymer/claynanocomposites) and crystallization of inorganic nanoparticles (e.g., CdS or TiO2) to prepare materials with various photofunctions. Intercalation of phyllosilicates with large organic molecules allowed us to synthesizeprecursors for preparation of nanoparticles using delamination/exfoliation of intercalates.
