The International Consortium on Landslides (ICL) has selected Charles University, Faculty of Science and Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics of the ASCR to be one of its 15 World Centers of Excellence during the World Landslide Forum 3 in Beijing, China in the beginning of June. The World Landslide Forum III. was organized under the theme Landslide Risk Mitigation: Toward a Safer Geo-Environment.

Dr. Vít Vilímek (Leader of WCoE 2011-2014), Charles University, Faculty of Science, Czech Republic, received the certificate from Dr. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, during the forum.

The World Centers of Excellence for landslides are selected by the Global Promotion Committee of the International Program on Landslides (IPL).
